Anne-Maree Keane

Anne-Maree has spent more than thirty years in the Queensland market, building teams, advising leaders and navigating the realities of partnership life.

Most recently she was a senior partner at KPMG with responsibility for leading diverse teams and developing and implementing strategic initiatives both at a local and national level.  She led Queensland’s Transaction Services practice and was responsible for the delivery of due diligence and other corporate advisory services to clients across a wide variety of industries and for organisations ranging from private businesses through to ASX-listed entities and government.  She was also the Deal Advisory & Infrastructure Geographic Leader and was a member of the Local Executive Committee for over seven years.

Before KPMG, Anne-Maree led and developed deal advisory teams at EY and McGrathNicol.  During her 17 years as a partner, she has learned that while hard work is important, consistency and authenticity are the power moves all emerging leaders can make.

Since retiring from the partnership, she has continued to build out her non-executive portfolio while remaining closely connected to the M&A community through her consulting work. Joining The Partner Whisperer team allows her to stay engaged with the profession she knows so well and contribute in an independent and impactful way.

Anne-Maree has a particular passion for supporting leaders transitioning into senior roles – those balancing client delivery, team growth and firm leadership expectations. Her mentoring style is market-led, practical and action-oriented. She guides and challenges but ultimately empowers each mentee to develop their own authentic leadership style and personal brand.

She believes the profession needs more distinctive leaders, not more identical ones. Sometimes all that is required is an independent voice, a fresh perspective and permission to lead differently.  As one of Australia’s earliest and longest-standing female partners in deals, she has seen what works and what could be done differently to help the next generation thrive.
